The Battle with the Fish People

Year: 1491, Month: Tarsakh, Date: 23rd

Chello takes the lead down a narrow 5ft passageway, and when she gets close enough to the fish people that they spot her, she yells loudly, "I am the all powerful God of Fire, and you Kua-toa have displeased Blibdoolpoolp".  She wiggles her fingers, and mutters some strange words, and then flames descend onto the nearest creature which bursts into flames, and its comrades take a step back from him.

The two Kua-toa furthest away are shouting, waving their arms and pointing in our direction.  I hear Enya speak some words and the ground begins to tremor around them.

"Obey me, or feel the wrath of Blibdoolpoolp", shouts Chello.  A large spiritual cat's paw appears by the burning Kua-toa, and takes a viscous swipe at it's neck, ripping it open, and the evil creature drops to the floor.  She continues yelling, "You must strive harder to please Blibdoolpoolp, do as I say!"

What must be one of their Shaman, wiggles it's fingers, and flames erupt around Chello, but they don't seem to cause her any harm, and they die away.  This seems to enrage Enya and she hurls a ball of red energy at the energy, which crashes into the creature's chest and bursts into flames.  The creature groans and, as the flames die away, his fish like face is grimaced in pain and there is an expression of pure hatred on his face.

Another Kua-toa wiggles his fingers and points at me, but nothing happens.  I tap Chello gently on the shoulder, and suggest she makes way for me, so I can engage these evil, wretched creatures for the glory of Tyr.

I hear the word "Grovel" shouted from behind me, and a Kua-toa stops the attack it is beginning and begins to bow and fawn and behave with great respect towards Celery.  A spiritual mace, looking almost identical to the one in Celery's hand, appears and swings down, impacting the Kua-toa squarely on the head.

A second Chello appears in front of the Kua-toa Shamans.  The claw moves up behind the Kua-toa engaging Chello, and swipes it in the kidney.  It bends over slightly and exhales loudly.  Another ball of energy springs from Enya's hands, but dissipates halfway towards the Kua-toa.

The Shaman wiggles his fingers and points at me again.  I feel a little tingle in my stomach, but again nothing happens.  I tap on Chello's shoulder a little more forcibly, and politely suggests she makes way for a real fighter.  Chello utters something unintelligible, but I'm sure it wasn't complementary.

The Kua-toa in front of Chello takes a bite at her with its fishy mandibles but comes away only with a chipped tooth.  The grovelling Kua-toa moves it's head from side to side in confusion, not quite sure what just happened to it, or why it would grovel to Celery.  The spiritual mace of Lathandar swings once again at the Shaman and makes another solid contact, this time to it's back.

Chello holds a piece of cork high in the air, and utters an incantation, pointing at each of her companions in turn. She then steps out of my way onto the flowing sewage water, stepping across its surface and standing on the water as it flows beneath her feet.  The Kua-toa swings wildly at Chello, but misses, most probably because it hadn't anticipated her moving out onto the water.  The spiritual cat's claw swipes again at the Kua-toa, slashing another throat, and it falls with a splash face first into the water.

The Shaman wiggles his fingers at me a third time.  Again, I feel a little tingle in my stomach, but nothing happens.  Enya shouts something about walking on water, then walks over the flowing sewage to the platform on the opposite side.  Another blue ball of energy springs from her hand and explodes in the face of the Shaman who shatters into thousands of icy shards.

Now Chello is out of the way, I eagerly move forward to engage the evil beasts.  I take the shortest route gingerly standing on the sewage at first, but move assuredly once I realise I too can water walk.  I engage the 3 remaining enemies, and even though they seem poorly trained, I salute them like any Knight of Tyr.  I attack the remaining Shaman with a double combination.  First, a thrust which I feint towards his head, but change the move midway to strike hard across his chest which thuds solidly into his leather armour.

I immediately follow this up with a low slash across his thigh, which he is too slow to block, and my sword blade comes away covered in blood.  Although both my strikes made solid contact, the Shaman continues to fight on.

A Kua-toa shouts a torrent of abuse directed towards me and my mother in common, spittle flying from its jaws, clearly trying to distract, and swings his weapon viciously.  I ignore his antics, as I have been trained to, and block his blow easily with my shield.

Celery moves forward to join me in the melee with the group of Kua-toa.  She manages to easily keep her balance through the sludge and takes a huge swing with her mace, but the Kua-toa parries the attack with it's pincer staff.  The spiritual Mace of Lathander makes a wild swing but its too high and the Kua-toa ducks underneath.

The spiritual claw floats over to the 3 remaining fish people, who are now surrounded, by me, Celery, the duplicate of Chello, and two spiritual weapons.

A flash of light streaks from Chello's hand and strikes a kua-toa in the midsection.  It looks stunned, and collapses to its knees, before falling, fish head first, into the sewage. It's corpse is lit up with glittery light as it is taken away in the flowing sewage.

Two Kua-toa left.  One reaches out with his pincer staff toward me, but I was busy blocking the other Kua-toa with my shield and it successfully beats my defenses and grapples me with the staff.  It tries to bite me with its razor sharp teeth, but his teeth rebound off my armour.  I'm going to have to spend some time when we get out of here cleaning the scratches it has made.

Another ball of red energy fires from Enya's outstretched hand, and engulfs the one grappling me.  As the flames die away quickly I'm still grappled, but I make a couple of fast slashes to his abdomen which he is unable to block, and he drops to the floor, trying to stop his intestines from gushing out of his body, before taking his last breath in a heap on the floor.  His staff is still entangled on my body.

Celery finishes the last enemy by bashing him with an overhand blow on the top of his head with her Mace.  The mace flows through his head, illuminated in the bright light of Lathandar.
