A pyre for the dead

Speak with the Dead

As I carry the last Dwarven warrior's body to the pyre, Celery gently stops me, and says please lay him here so I can talk quickly to his spirit before we lay him to rest.  I lower his body carefully to the ground, and Celery begins the now familiar prayer that enables her to speak with the dead.

We all gather round to hear what the spirit of the Dwarven Warrior has to say, as Celery reaches the climax of the prayer, and his body animates.

    "What happened?" "Drow attacked us"

    "Why?" "We don't know"

"Who should we tell about this?" "My clan, the Stoneshaft Clan."

    "Where is Harshnag?" "Who?"

"How do we open the door?" "There's a secret door?  We've been looking for it for years!"

After answering the fifth question the spirit of the Dwarf departs his body which becomes lifeless again.  After a few moments of solemn reflection, I gently lift his body and place it on the pyre with his comrades.

After the pyre is well set, and no new corpses animate, we go back into the keep.

It's late so we all decide it would be best if we camped here in the stronghold and Leo conjures his magnificent hut to protect us whilst we rest.  Before falling asleep Leo mentions that he vaguely recalls a rumour that the Dwarves were here to keep an eye on the Margaster Family who once owned this castle.
