Speaking with the Dead
We rise early and prepare for the grisly task of speaking with Atallia's corpse. When she's ready, Celery begins her prayer to Lathandar. A loud scream full of anger, betrayal, and hatred comes form the corpse. Celery reaches out and touches the corpse. Its eyes whip open, and stare directly at Celery. "I'm sorry about what happened to you, but we wanted to know what happened, and so with the aid of Lathandar, I have temporarily brought you here so we can speak briefly. I will make this as short as possible." Atallia's corpse just stares back at her, so Celery takes that for affirmation, and begins."Did you write the letter we found in Oosith's lair?" The corpse smiles, "Yessss".
"What problems is Harshnag causing"? "Giants fight with Giants, and this Giant is very troublesome".
.
"Who told you of these problems"? "Our society has a network of informants and I was the one who had to tell Oosith".
"We defeated Oosith in the Sewers, tell us the names of someone in the kraken society who we can seek out to avenge your death"? Attalia's corpse grins, and she cackles, "Slarkrethel"!
"What more can you tell us about Slarkrethel"? The corpse chuckles once more, "He will be your undoing, and the undoing of the entire Sword Coast"!
Celery then bids Atallia farewell, and hopes she can find solace in the afterlife. Atallia's presence leaves the corpse. Celery is not happy, and bluntly says Atallia's corpse must be buried.
Enya and Chello seem indifferent to Celery's insistence that the body is treated with respect. Leo and I find a spot by a tree, and we dig a hole in which we gently place the corpse. Celery says a few words, before we cover her body over. I say a little prayer to Tyr, although I doubt it will be heard, as I am sure Tyr will feel justice has been served.
After a few moments of reflection (well for Celery and I), we gather our things and quietly take the Harper's portal to Everlund, and then onto Waterdeep, where we return to the Spires of the Morning.
